Losing weight and fat is a tough thing to do once you have become accustomed to a certain way of eating. Your body becomes used to getting the high fat and high calories that are typical of a lot of today's foods.
Every where you look, there are processed sugars, additives and god knows what else in your food. You really have to read the labels and what's in the food to make sure your getting healthy stuff.
If you look at the ingredients listing and the first thing you see is sugar or dextrose, then put it back. Your buying nothing but empty calories and when your trying to lose weight, you want your calories to be quality and nutrient filled.
We've found that a good way to shop is to eat before you go to the store. That way your not as inclined to make an impulse buy of some sugary high calorie treat. When going through the checkout line, do not even look at the all the impulse buy crap they have in the bins.
1. The first step in losing weight is deciding that you want to. I've found that if your thinking about losing weight, a good motivator is to stand naked (or in underwear if your modest) in front of a mirror and take a good look at yourself. It is surprising at how motivating it can be to look at how bad you really look in the mirror, and also how motivating it can be when you look in the mirror and actually see progress.

2. Once you have decided to lose the weight, purge your kitchen and stock up on healthy food. Don't throw away ALL of your goodies, because you will need to keep a few as rewards.
3. Stick to it. When ever you feel yourself sliding, do the naked mirror thing again. It will shock you back into the routine of eating healthy.
You have to remember, your not dieting. You are actually changing your eating habits. Dieting does not work long term. You have to change your habits if you want to succeed at keeping the weight off.
